It Is Finished

(Tetelestai)

Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to.
Instead, he gave up his divine privileges, he took on the humble position of a slave and
was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form, he humbled himself
in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross.

Over 2000 years ago, Jesus who had no beginning and has no end; who is the creator of
all there is; who gave up heaven for a season and came to earth for a reason, victoriously
uttered these last words it is finished.

Because He walked in obedience to His Father, it is finished.

Because He did not fall prey to temptation of sin and remained sinless – it is finished
Our sin debt is paid in full for all time because He did get down from the rugged cross
and He did get up from the borrowed grave – it is finished and the reign of Satan’s terror
upon us is finished

He was convicted, and crucified and died; but that was not the end. With all power over
sin, death and Satan, He our Lamb of God, took away the sin of the world forever.

He who was sinless but became the personification of sin; accepted the penalty of sin,
which is death, and overcame it all. Before He drew His last breath our Savior
announced to the world – it is finished

When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, he bowed his
head and gave up his spirit. John 19:30

It is done, it is complete, it is ended, it is over — it is finished!

Victory in Christ Jesus!
